Aviation workers have called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure the immediate payment of outstanding benefits to retired staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways.

The workers, expressing their concerns on Wednesday, urged the federal government to fulfill its obligations to the retirees, many of whom have endured years of financial hardship despite dedicating their careers to the national carrier.

The demand comes amid growing frustrations over delays in settling the entitlements of former employees of Nigeria Airways, which ceased operations in 2003.

The retirees, many of whom are elderly, have repeatedly appealed to the government for their rightful compensation, arguing that their years of service should not be forgotten.

The aviation workers emphasized that settling these payments is not only a matter of justice but also a moral obligation.

They urged President Tinubu to prioritize the welfare of the retirees, stressing that many have suffered severe financial and health challenges due to the prolonged delay.

As pressure mounts, stakeholders in the aviation sector are looking to the federal government for swift action, hoping that long-awaited relief will finally reach the former Nigeria Airways employees.
