A road safety advocacy group, Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI), has commended the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), for adopting e-ticketing enforcement to curb traffic violations in Abuja.
APRI’s Executive Director, Amb. Prince Fidelis Nnadi, hailed the initiative led by the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) under Dr. Abdul-Lateef Bello, emphasizing its efficiency in tracking and penalizing offenders without physical interaction.
He described the deployment of technology, which records infractions and issues electronic tickets in real-time, as a game changer in Nigeria’s road traffic management.
Nnadi expressed hope that the court ruling barring DRTS from impounding vehicles would soon be overturned, allowing for stricter enforcement.
The NGO also lauded FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for supporting measures to enhance road safety and urged residents to embrace the e-ticketing system for safer roads in the capital.
