Crime rates in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including kidnapping, ‘one chance’ robberies, and vandalism, have significantly declined due to residents’ prompt reporting of suspicious activities, according to the FCTA Director of Security Services, Adamu Gwary.
Gwary credited the improved security to increased public trust in the administration and unveiled a strategic blueprint to further combat crime.
He emphasized that once the FCT Central Command and Control Centre becomes fully operational, Abuja will set a national benchmark for safety.
The Centre will integrate security operations, utilizing drones, CCTV surveillance, and real-time intelligence analysis.
Additionally, Minister Nyesom Wike has approved the construction of 12 new police stations—two in each area council—to enhance security at the grassroots level.
