A landlord-tenant dispute turned violent in Pegi community, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), after a commercial driver, Musa Alhassan, allegedly assaulted his landlord, Samson Bako, for locking his room over unpaid rent.
Witnesses say Alhassan, who had failed to pay rent for over a year despite multiple reminders, returned from work at night to find his room padlocked by the landlord.
Frustrated, he confronted Bako’s son, attempting to slap him, which escalated into a heated altercation with the landlord himself.
“The landlord locked the room out of frustration when the tenant was at work,” said a resident, Ishaku Ayuba. “But when Alhassan returned, things got out of hand.”
A local vigilante member, Joshua, confirmed the incident, stating that they were alerted by residents and had to intervene. The tenant was later handed over to security personnel for further action.
