The Secretary of the FCT Football Association, Haruna Ilerika, has applauded FCT teams for their impressive display at the just-concluded 2025 FCT President Cup, held on Saturday at Abuja’s Area 3 football pitch.
Ilerika praised the exceptional quality of football showcased, describing it as a testament to the capital’s growing football prowess.
“Two teams have proven worthy of representing the FCT on a national stage. Their performances show they’re ready for top-tier competition,” he remarked.
Family Worship Champions (FWC) Football Club clinched the tournament title, outplaying runners-up EFCC FC in a thrilling final.
Both teams compete in the Nationwide League One (NLO), underscoring the depth of talent in the FCT.
Looking ahead, Ilerika announced the kickoff of a pre-season training program on February 24, aimed at sharpening team performance before the President Federation Cup.
“We’re optimistic about even greater strides in upcoming tournaments,” he added.
Ilerika also extended gratitude to the media, coaches, and players for their roles in making the competition a success.
The tournament featured 33 Division One teams and 10 Division Two teams, with hopes of nurturing national-level talent from the FCT by year’s end.
