The late Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was laid to rest on Saturday in his hometown of Telam Village, Langtang North LGA, Plateau State.
Useni, fondly remembered as Baba Mai Tuwo for his generosity, passed away in France on January 22, 2025, at the age of 82.
He was buried beside his late wife, Mrs. Julie Useni, and their son, Danjuma Nancwat Useni, who tragically died in a 2002 EAS plane crash.
At the funeral service held at COCIN Church RCC Langtang, Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang reflected on Useni’s final days, highlighting his focus on forgiveness and reconciliation.
“Without forgiveness, there can be no unity. His legacy reminds us to seek peace and reconciliation,” Mutfwang stated.
Useni’s passing marks the end of an era for a man who left a significant mark on Nigeria’s political and military landscape.
