The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has fully restored power to the Katampe-Central Area in Abuja after a six-week outage caused by vandalism.
In a statement on Friday, Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, confirmed the completion of repairs on the damaged 132/33kV lines 1 & 2.
The disruption, which began on January 17, was traced to the vandalism of an underground 1×400mm XLPE copper conductor.
During the outage, alternative feeders were used to minimize the blackout’s impact.
Mbah assured that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), can now resume normal power supply and called for public cooperation to curb infrastructure vandalism.
