The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has arraigned Oseni Adeolu Olayinka, an executive officer at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, for allegedly adding his wife and son to the federal payroll to siphon millions of naira.

Olayinka was brought before Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on a three-count charge of money laundering.

The ICPC alleged that between 2023 and 2024, he illicitly funneled over N2.8 million through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), by registering his wife and son as federal employees and receiving their salaries through their accounts.

One charge highlighted that he received N2,843,524.41 via his wife’s Stanbic IBTC Bank account, funds allegedly linked to corruption under the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Olayinka pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Paul Asimiakeokha, successfully applied for bail, which was granted at N5 million with a surety who must be a civil servant of at least grade level 12 and own verifiable property in Abuja.

The trial is set to commence on April 29, 2025.
