Two kidnapped victims have been executed by their abductors in Gwargwada, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), after their families failed to meet the ransom demand on time.

The victims, identified as Mohammed Danladi and Nasiru Yusuf, were abducted alongside a herder and a woman at Gwombe Junction along the Gwargwada-Rubochi road on Wednesday.

According to a family member, Shuaibu Abdullahi, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦500,000 per victim but executed Danladi and Yusuf when their families could only raise ₦500,000 in total.

“The kidnappers’ leader called on Friday, and we informed them that we had managed to gather ₦500,000, unaware that they had already killed two of them due to the delay,” Abdullahi said.

Meanwhile, the herder and the woman were released after their families paid ₦3 million at the kidnappers’ hideout in Kotonkarfe forest, Kogi State.

Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler of Gwargwada, Ugbada Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, lamented the killing, stating that the victims were on their way back from Rubochi when they were taken.

He noted that local authorities in Kotonkarfe had mobilized hunters and vigilantes to recover the bodies, but the search was still ongoing.

As of the time of filing this report, police authorities in Abuja are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
