Sakinah Medical Outreach, in collaboration with Medics Across Continents and National Hospital Abuja, has launched a one-week free surgical initiative to provide life-saving procedures for underprivileged Nigerians.
Speaking at the launch, Vice-Chairman of Sakinah Medical Outreach, Prof. Aisha Abubakar, announced that over 100 patients would benefit from surgeries, including urethral and prostate procedures, hernia repairs, and lipoma removal.
Beyond the surgeries, the initiative aims to enhance patient education, post-operative care, and capacity-building for local medical professionals.
Since its inception in 2009, the organization has facilitated life-saving treatments for over 13,000 individuals, investing over N150 million in medical and surgical interventions.
Prof. Martin Sherif of Medics Across Continents emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling kidney-related conditions, while Dr. Ayodeji Salman, Chairman of Sakinah Medical Outreach, noted that beneficiary selection was conducted in partnership with tertiary health institutions.
The initiative runs from February 16 to 21 at National Hospital Abuja.
