The Federal Government has urged retailers to reflect recent drops in food prices, warning against exploitative pricing.

Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Abubakar Kyari, made the call on Tuesday at the 2025 Wheat Farmers Green Field Day in Jigawa State.

Kyari criticized retailers and bakers for failing to adjust prices despite significant reductions in the costs of flour, sugar, rice, and pasta.

He cited examples, including flour dropping from ₦81,000 to below ₦60,000 per bag and spaghetti falling from ₦20,000 to ₦15,000.

Emphasizing that consumers deserve the benefits of lower costs, he urged fair pricing and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to food affordability through stakeholder engagement and policy measures.
