The FCT Police Command has arrested 23-year-old Iliayasu Mohammed for allegedly murdering his friend, Safillahi Muhammad, after inviting him for a meal at his home in Dantata Village, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call at 1:30 PM on February 13, 2025, and arrived to find Muhammad unconscious in a pool of blood with multiple cutlass wounds.
He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed, an ex-convict, is linked to a criminal syndicate that targets motorcyclists.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and provided details about the gang’s operations.
A manhunt is now underway for other fleeing gang members. Meanwhile, Mohammed remains in custody and will face criminal charges upon the conclusion of investigations.
The FCT Commissioner of Police has urged residents to report any suspicious activities to strengthen security in the area.
