The Department of State Services (DSS), has demanded that Africa Independent Television (AIT), and Channels Television retract reports alleging its involvement in the invasion of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In letters signed by its legal counsel, Ayodeji Adedipe, the DSS warned that failure to issue a retraction and public apology within seven days would result in civil and criminal lawsuits.

The agency dismissed claims that its operatives barred lawmakers, including Speaker Mojisola Meranda, from accessing the chamber, insisting it was officially invited to prevent a security breach.

The Lagos Assembly later confirmed requesting DSS presence but accused the agency of exceeding its mandate by restricting access to legislative offices.

The incident led to a tense standoff between lawmakers and security operatives, sparking concerns over interference in legislative affairs.
