The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) announced that the 2023/2024 student loan application cycle will close on February 21, with the new cycle opening on February 22.
At a press conference in Abuja, Managing Director Akintunde Sawyerr emphasized the fund’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and supporting deserving students.
Over the past 220 days, NELFUND received 364,042 applications—averaging 1,000 per day—and disbursed over N22.7 billion in institutional fees to 215,514 students across 150 institutions.
Additionally, N12.8 billion was provided as upkeep support to 169,114 students, with monthly grants of N20,000 each.
Sawyerr assured applicants that submissions made before the deadline will be processed according to established guidelines, underscoring NELFUND’s ongoing mission to remove financial barriers to education.
