The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has commended Southwest governors for their collective efforts in tackling insecurity and hunger through a newly established unified security network and food distribution hubs.
In a statement from Abeokuta, Ogun State, NANS Ogun Joint Campus Committee Chairman, Gabriel Francis, praised the initiative, describing it as a strategic move that could drive regional stability and economic growth.
The decision, reached at the recent Southwest Governors’ Forum meeting in Lagos, aims to enhance security coordination and ensure food accessibility across the region.
Francis emphasized that the initiative is timely given growing concerns over potential insurgent threats.
He urged governors to maintain unity and leverage the region’s agricultural and mineral wealth to sustain economic progress.
Beyond security and food distribution, he encouraged an expanded collaboration in transportation, trade, youth development, and industrial projects.
He also called for swift implementation, recommending the formation of dedicated committees to translate the resolutions into concrete action.
