The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters in Ekpoma, Edo State, on February 15, 2025.
Intelligence linked the suspects—mostly Ambrose Alli University (AAU) students—to fraudulent online activities, with some spotted at a local club before the swift raid.
The operation netted 14 exotic cars, along with laptops and mobile phones.
While Ekpoma residents express growing concern over cybercrime, AAU’s Students’ Union Government is reportedly investigating the issue.
The EFCC has confirmed that further charges will follow as investigations continue.
