On Saturday afternoon, two men suspected to be ‘one chance’ operators were apprehended and killed by an irate mob in the Lugbe area of Abuja.

The suspects’ vehicle was also set ablaze during the incident.

‘One chance’ operators are individuals who pose as commercial drivers to rob or harm unsuspecting passengers.

According to eyewitnesses, the two men had picked up a young woman who, upon sensing danger, raised an alarm. Her cries attracted the attention of bystanders who managed to intercept the vehicle, rescue her, and exact mob justice on the suspects.

As of the time of this report, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

This event underscores the ongoing challenges of ‘one chance’ operations in Abuja and raises concerns about the prevalence of mob justice in response to crime.
