The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to overhauling Nigeria’s agricultural research system through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF).
At a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Sabi Abdullahi, praised NADF’s comprehensive assessment of 16 Agricultural Research Institutes and 17 Federal Colleges of Agriculture nationwide.
He emphasized the necessity of continuous improvement in agricultural research, noting that the last major review occurred during President Shehu Shagari’s tenure.
Executive Secretary of NADF, Muhammed Ibrahim, highlighted the fund’s role in addressing financial challenges and enhancing the country’s agricultural potential.
The meeting convened key stakeholders, including government officials and researchers, to align Nigeria’s agricultural research with national and global priorities.
