The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zonal Executive Committee has suspended its Zonal Secretary, Chief Felix Omemu, for one month over alleged misconduct and unauthorized media statements discrediting a recent zonal meeting in Benin.

Omemu had dismissed the meeting, convened by South-South Vice Chairman Chief Dan Orbih, as illegal, claiming it lacked approval from the Zonal Working Committee.

The motion for his suspension was moved by Rivers Assembly factional Speaker Martin Amaewhule and seconded by Rep. Godwin Offiono, who accused Omemu of breach of trust and divisive actions.

A disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate, with PDP Zonal Legal Adviser George Turnah appointed Acting Zonal Secretary.

Orbih praised the decision, calling it crucial for party unity.
