Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has been elected to the Steering Committee of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
Her election took place on February 15, 2025, during OAFLAD’s 29th Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Mrs. Tinubu will represent West Africa on the eight-member committee alongside another regional member.
Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Bio, was elected OAFLAD President, while Angola’s Ana Lorenzo became Vice President.
Following her election, Mrs. Tinubu pledged to advocate for improved education for women and girls across Africa.
OAFLAD, comprising First Ladies from 24 African nations, focuses on advancing development initiatives across the continent.
