The Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) has arrested 18 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers along the Benin-Auchi Road, seizing 38 locally-made guns, pellets, and charms during a bush combing operation near Equedion Camp.
ESSC Commandant Friday Ibadin, in a statement on Saturday, confirmed the arrests and reassured residents of the government’s commitment to security, especially for farmers.
Seventeen of the suspects are non-indigenes, while one hails from Agbede.
The suspects were handed over to the Agbede Police Station as the corps intensified efforts to clear criminal elements from the state’s forests.
The operation aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s directive to enhance security across Edo.
