Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubair, have commenced preparations for the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire.

The team resumed camp in Abuja, holding their first training session on Monday at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B, Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Training intensity increased on Tuesday, with both morning and afternoon sessions.

The back-to-back WAFU B U-20 champions, the Flying Eagles booked their place in the tournament through regional dominance and will aim to continue their impressive form on the continental stage.

The 2025 U-20 AFCON, slated for April 26 to May 18, will feature 12 teams, including Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, DR Congo, Congo, Kenya, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Egypt, and Morocco.

While CAF is yet to conduct the official tournament draw, the competition doubles as a qualifier for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, with the top four semi-finalists earning automatic berths at the global event.

Defending champions Senegal will also be among the contenders in Côte d’Ivoire as they seek to retain their title.

The Flying Eagles will continue their build-up in Abuja as they fine-tune strategies ahead of the continental showpiece.
