Operatives of the FCT Police Command have arrested a senior officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), in possession of high-powered firearms and ammunition.
The officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended on Monday in the Zuma area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Authorities say he failed to provide a credible explanation for how he obtained the weapons or his intended destination, raising suspicions of illegal arms dealings.
According to police sources, the recovered weapons included multiple AK-47 magazines, CZ Scorpion rifles, pistols, and a significant cache of ammunition.
His arrest reportedly followed an intelligence report linked to a missing person investigation.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is currently under interrogation, with further details to be released soon.
