The inaugural Abuja Charity Marathon is set for Saturday, April 19, 2025, with 500 athletes participating.
Convener Amb. Chris Odey emphasized that the event is more than just a race, aiming to promote philanthropy, community impact, and solidarity.
“This marathon unites NGOs, corporate bodies, and citizens to support the less privileged while fostering unity,” he said.
The event, expected to draw over 1,000 attendees, will feature entertainment, exhibitions, networking, and a Mixed-Gender Novelty Football Match between Abuja Charity Marathon Ambassadors and NUJ Abuja Chapter members.
Odey thanked sponsors, including the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, while unveiling marathon ambassadors such as ‘Inside Abuja Media’ Chairman Dr. Charles Orifia, broadcaster Sydney Jack, comedian MC Bob, and musician Baba 20/10.
Celebrities and NGOs have also pledged their support for the event.
