The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed speculation about the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), affirming that the unit remains dissolved.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi clarified on Monday that newly created state-level tactical squads are not a revival of SARS, emphasizing that each operates independently under its respective Commissioner of Police (CP).

Adejobi reiterated that SARS was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, following nationwide #EndSARS protests and assured the public that the decision remains unchanged.

He also revealed that Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun will discuss concerns over the conduct of officers in these Special Tactical Squads during a meeting with senior police officials.

“The IGP has empowered CPs and AIGs to address complaints and take disciplinary action where necessary. No infraction will be ignored,” Adejobi stated.
