The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has vowed to take a hard stance against corrupt public officials, warning that there will be no leniency for those who enrich themselves at the nation’s expense.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, represented by Chinwe Ndubueze, Commandant of the EFCC Academy, made this declaration at a workshop on anti-corruption, fiscal responsibility, and good governance held at the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja.

The event was organized in collaboration with the House Committee on Financial Crimes for state and local government officials.

Olukoyede stressed that 70 percent of Nigeria’s governance challenges stem from poor fiscal transparency, with trillions of naira misappropriated through procurement fraud and financial misconduct.

He emphasized that corruption remains the biggest obstacle to Nigeria’s development, stating, “With all its resources, Nigeria has no business being poor, but corruption continues to hold the nation hostage.”

He urged public officials to uphold integrity, warning that the EFCC will not tolerate financial malpractice under his leadership.
