Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has alleged that certain party leaders are plotting his removal due to his insistence on due process, respect for the rule of law, and his close ties with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Anyanwu claimed some South East PDP leaders view him as a threat to their political ambitions and control of the party’s structure. He also accused some governors and a faction of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of working to undermine the party for personal gain.

While the PDP Governors Forum and BoT have backed Sunday Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary following a Court of Appeal ruling, Anyanwu insists he remains in office until his tenure expires in December 2025. He urged those seeking his removal to wait for the party’s next national convention.
