The Abia State Police Command has dismissed three officers Jonas Nnamdi James Daniel and Ifeanyi Emeka over allegations of abduction and extortion.
Police spokesperson Maureen Chinaka announced that the officers conspired to kidnap civilians along the Port Harcourt Expressway while armed with an electric baton an assault rifle and a Beretta pistol.
They allegedly extorted victims and demanded additional ransom from their families.
Following an orderly room trial the officers were found guilty of discreditable conduct and dismissed.
Their civilian accomplices have also been handed over for prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa reaffirmed the force’s commitment to professionalism and zero tolerance for corruption.
