Nestlé Nigeria Plc has invested over N1.8 billion to enhance dairy farming in the Paikon Kore Grazing Reserve, Federal Capital Territory. The initiative, part of the Nestlé Livestock Development Project (NLDP), was unveiled in Abuja by Managing Director Wassim Elhusseini.
Launched in 2019 in collaboration with CBI Innovations and 2SCALE, the NLDP focuses on improving milk quality, enhancing feed and fodder, and building resilient dairy communities.
Currently, the project aggregates 6,000 litres of fresh milk daily from 1,600 dairy households, with a target of 30,000 litres per day by November 2027 through improved breeding and modern dairy practices.
The initiative has reduced milk rejection rates from 12% in 2021 to 5% in 2024.
Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, praised Nestlé’s commitment to sustainable dairy production, while FCTA Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Lawan Geidam, noted that the project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to drive national economic growth.
