A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced 40-year-old Nollywood filmmaker, Mbadiwe Emeka, to five years in prison for trafficking 17.30 kilograms of Canada Loud, a variant of Cannabis Sativa.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa handed down the sentence after Emeka pleaded guilty to charges filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The filmmaker was arrested on December 24, 2024, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, during a cargo inspection.
Prosecutors revealed that the illicit substance, shipped from Houston, USA, was imported with the assistance of an accomplice, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James.
