The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the use of fake number plates despite threats from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
In a statement on Wednesday, FRSC Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed, through Public Education Officer ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, stressed that fraudulent number plates pose serious security risks, as many crimes involve vehicles.
Mohammed expressed disappointment over NANS’ opposition, emphasizing that the Corps’ operation aims to curb forgery and strengthen national security.
He directed officers not to be intimidated but assured that the FRSC remains open to dialogue with NANS to address concerns.
