The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday raided the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) headquarters in Abuja over allegations of fraud and misappropriation of N90 billion meant for the 2024 Hajj.
The operation, which began at 11 a.m., led to the detention of NAHCON’s spokesperson, Fatimah Usara, and three other staff members.
EFCC operatives, armed with a valid arrest warrant, underscored the gravity of the investigation.
Sources at the EFCC confirmed the raid, citing concerns over the alleged mismanagement of the intervention fund.
This comes after a similar operation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), further intensifying scrutiny on NAHCON’s financial dealings.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined immediate comments but assured that further details would be disclosed in due course.
