The Bauchi State Police Command has neutralized two suspected bandits and recovered an AK-49 rifle in a tactical operation aimed at strengthening security in the Gwana District and its border regions.
Police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation, carried out on Tuesday by the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with Special Hunters, was based on credible intelligence.
During a surveillance mission in the Dajin Madan Forest, security operatives encountered the armed suspects, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the deaths of two bandits while others fled with injuries.
The operation yielded the recovery of an AK-49 assault rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.
Wakil reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to combating banditry and urged residents to support security efforts to enhance public safety.
