Gunmen attacked Shendai community in Quaanpan Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday, killing one person and abducting four others, sparking fear and grief among residents.
Confirming the attack, Quaanpan LGA Chairman, Christopher Manship, condemned the rising cases of kidnappings and called for urgent security intervention.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Danaan Sylvanus, Manship extended condolences to the bereaved family and urged security agencies to ensure the victims’ safe return.
During a fact-finding visit to the community, Manship met with local leaders, security personnel, and affected families, reassuring them of ongoing efforts to track the perpetrators.
He was accompanied by four Namu District council members, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Namu, and military officials led by Lt. Col. Ogunrinde Soji.
Lt. Col. Soji reaffirmed the military’s commitment to a thorough investigation, the victims’ rescue, and enhanced security measures to prevent future attacks.
