Police have arrested Abba Saidu, a survivor of the January 6, 2025, IED explosion at Almajiri Tsangaya Modern School in Kuchibuyi, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
The blast claimed the lives of Harisu Lawan and Majid Ibrahim.
Saidu, who was receiving treatment for severe injuries at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, was taken into custody shortly after his discharge.
His elder brother, Salisu Dungu, revealed that police monitored Saidu throughout his hospital stay before transferring him to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he has been detained for two weeks.
The explosion reportedly occurred when Lawan discovered the device while scavenging for sweet potatoes near a community farm.
The incident has sparked concerns, especially as Adamu Hashimu, the school proprietor, has also been in police custody since the tragedy.
Efforts to get a statement from FCT police authorities have so far been unsuccessful.
