The Federal Capital Territory police command has rescued a 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, from a suspected ritualist at a hotel in Wuse, Abuja.
FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said the victim was found unconscious and tied up in a bathroom on Friday.
She had checked into the hotel with a man she met online, who identified himself as Emmanuel Okoro.
According to the police, the suspect threatened the victim with a dagger before restraining her and taping her mouth shut.
He then fled with her two mobile phones.
The police have launched a manhunt for Okoro and urged the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
FCT Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu advised young women to exercise caution when meeting strangers.
