The Niger State Police Command has rescued a six-month-old baby kidnapped by her cousin and taken to Abuja for sale.
The incident occurred on January 24, 2025, in the Kwamba area of Suleja when the baby’s mother left her in the care of her cousin, Joy Nuwa, while running an errand. Instead, Nuwa and three accomplices took the child to Kubwa, Abuja, intending to sell her.
Upon discovering her baby was missing, the mother reported the case to the police.
An investigation led to the arrest of four suspects: Joy Nuwa (20), Favour James (25), Ezekiel Emmanuel (30), and Patience Obana (23).
Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun confirmed that Emmanuel confessed to the crime, revealing they had conspired with Obana in Kubwa to facilitate the sale.
The baby was rescued unharmed and reunited with her mother.
All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.
