At least 20 soldiers sustained serious injuries after a speeding vehicle plowed into them during a morning drill outside Myoung Barracks in Yaba, Lagos, on Friday.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car, carrying three occupants, appeared to have lost control before crashing into the marching soldiers.

A source at the barracks suggested that the driver may have dozed off at the wheel.

Following the incident, one of the occupants fled, while the remaining two were severely beaten by enraged soldiers.

A damaged Toyota vehicle was later seen parked inside the barracks as soldiers gathered in hushed discussions.

The injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment at the military hospital within the barracks. Some were seen limping outside the hospital as uniformed personnel stood by.

It remains unconfirmed whether any fatalities occurred. Military authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
