A fuel tanker explosion triggered a massive fire at a filling station in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 8 PM at Shakkotu along Kiyawa Road while the tanker was offloading fuel.

Eyewitnesses described a loud explosion followed by a raging fire that engulfed the station.

“I rushed to the scene and saw the tanker burst into flames, with fire spreading everywhere,” said Baba Nura, a witness.

The blaze caused significant damage to the filling station and nearby structures. The Jigawa State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident, stating that emergency responders arrived swiftly to contain the situation.

“No casualties have been reported so far, but investigations are ongoing,” Adam said.

Efforts to reach the filling station manager for comments were unsuccessful, while staff declined to speak on the incident.
