The Federal Government has established an inter-agency committee to coordinate the welfare of Nigerians who may be deported from the United States, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has confirmed.
NiDCOM’s Director of Media and Corporate Affairs, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is leading the effort, alongside NiDCOM, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
While NiDCOM is not aware of any Nigerians currently being processed for deportation, reports indicate that about 3,690 Nigerians in the US face possible removal as part of ongoing immigration enforcement.
