The Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti has dismissed the defamation case filed by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun against activist lawyer Dele Farotimi. At the hearing on January 29, 2025, the prosecution’s counsel, Samson Osobu, informed the court of a notice of discontinuance, citing interventions from concerned citizens and a request from Aare Afe Babalola. Justice Babs Kuewumi subsequently struck out the case. Farotimi’s counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), welcomed the decision but declined to comment on related cases still pending in other courts.
