The Sultanate Council of Sokoto has urged Muslims to watch for the crescent moon marking the start of Sha’aban 1446 AH on Wednesday, 29th of Rajab 1446 AH.
In a statement by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, sightings should be reported to local leaders for onward communication to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, for confirmation.
Sha’aban, the precursor to Ramadan, is a significant period of spiritual preparation for Muslims worldwide.
The council concluded with prayers for divine guidance in fulfilling this religious duty.
