Henry Nwodo, an activist and organizer of the planned #EndPoliceExtortion protest, was arrested by Nigeria Police operatives in the Jahi 2 area of Abuja on Sunday evening.
According to Femi Adeyeye, spokesperson of the African Action Congress (AAC), Nwodo is being held without access to legal counsel or communication.
The protest, set for Monday, January 27, 2024, was in response to the police’s invitation to Omoyele Sowore, AAC’s 2023 presidential candidate, for questioning over alleged cyberstalking and intimidation.
Sowore, accompanied by his lawyers, appeared at the force headquarters on Monday as scheduled.
