Nigeria Deports 828 Illegal Immigrants in Major Crackdown

The Nigerian government, through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has deported 828 illegal immigrants lacking residency permits, Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced in Abuja.

With an estimated 300,000 illegal immigrants in the country, primarily from Chad, Niger, Benin, and Cameroon, this action marks a significant step in addressing illegal immigration.

Tunji-Ojo also revealed stricter measures, including ending automatic renewals of expatriates’ residency permits.
