The Nigerian government, through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has deported 828 illegal immigrants lacking residency permits, Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced in Abuja.
With an estimated 300,000 illegal immigrants in the country, primarily from Chad, Niger, Benin, and Cameroon, this action marks a significant step in addressing illegal immigration.
Tunji-Ojo also revealed stricter measures, including ending automatic renewals of expatriates’ residency permits.
