The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has closed Aba’s notorious Cemetery Market for the second time in two years, seizing counterfeit beverages and food items worth over ₦5 billion during its “Operation Clean Up Aba.”
Over 240 illegal factories producing fake versions of brands like Hennessy, Coca-Cola, and Hollandia Yoghurt under hazardous conditions were shut down.
NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, called the operation a decisive step in combating counterfeit goods and protecting public health.
The agency commended Abia State’s government for its support and urged Nigerians to report suspicious products to curb the spread of counterfeits.
