The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has decried the worsening insecurity in Abuja following the abduction of a family and others by armed bandits in Kubwa on Monday.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, criticized the FCT Police Command’s delayed response and accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of prioritizing political and urban remodeling projects over security.

The group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to overhaul Abuja’s security architecture, urging residents to petition the government and demand action.

“Abuja cannot become a haven for criminals,” HURIWA warned, emphasizing the need for accountability and citizen safety.
