The Force Headquarters in Abuja was on high alert Monday as activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore appeared for questioning over allegations stemming from a viral video accusing Lagos checkpoint officers of extortion.

According to the police, Sowore is being investigated for resisting and obstructing public officers, disobedience to lawful orders, cyberstalking, and related offenses.

The summons, issued by the Force Intelligence Department, directed Sowore to appear for an interview at its Abuja complex.

Ahead of his appearance, the Take It Back Movement, linked to Sowore, circulated a flier online calling for a protest under the banner “Occupy Force Headquarters.”

The flier, featuring images of Sowore and the Inspector General of Police, quickly gained traction on social media.

By Monday morning, roads leading to the Force Headquarters were barricaded, with armed officers in anti-riot gear deployed to prevent potential disruptions.

The increased security highlights the growing tension surrounding Sowore’s case and ongoing debates about police accountability and citizens’ rights to protest.
