Residents of Aso Garden Estate in Maitama, Abuja, have raised concerns over the impact of ongoing construction projects supervised by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
They attribute structural damages to their homes, including wall cracks and weakened foundations, to heavy vibrations from nearby construction activities.
In a formal petition to the minister, Dr. Nurain Abayomi Mumuni, representing the estate’s chairman, expressed fears over the lack of prior notification or consultation before the construction began.
The residents emphasized the need for an assessment of the project’s impact on their properties and the enforcement of safety measures.
“Our homes have suffered significant damage due to persistent heavy vibrations.
“Many residents live in fear for the structural integrity of their houses,” the petition stated.
Mumuni called for urgent intervention, urging Wike to assess the situation and involve residents in discussions about the project.
He also requested a meeting with relevant authorities, construction managers, and affected homeowners to address the concerns comprehensively.
