Gunmen, numbering over 20, attacked Chikakore community in Kubwa, Abuja, on Sunday night, abducting five residents, including a family of three.
The assailants, armed with guns, stormed the Health Centre extension area around 11 p.m., forcefully entering homes. Among those kidnapped were Adesiyan Akinropo, his wife, son, and a visitor, along with a neighbor.
A woman sustained a head injury after being struck with a gun butt and was rushed to the hospital.
Residents criticized the delayed response of police operatives, who reportedly arrived an hour and a half after the attackers escaped.
Community leaders and the police have scheduled a meeting to address the incident.
The Chikakore community, which lacks a dedicated police division despite offering land and facilities for one, has seen increased criminal activities, including a January explosion linked to fleeing bandits from Katsina State.
Efforts to reach FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh for comment were unsuccessful.
