Sunshine Stars FC of Akure marked the second half of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Ikorodu City FC on Saturday at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The Akure-based side dominated the first half, racing to a 3-1 lead.
Linman Ahmadu struck first in the 16th minute, followed by Promise Awosanmi’s rebound four minutes later. Alao Danlami added a third, capitalizing on Ogechukwu Ogbu’s precise cross.
Ikorodu City’s Shola Adelani pulled one back before halftime, and the Lagos side pressed hard in the second half.
Despite their efforts, Danlami’s second goal proved decisive, sealing the win for Sunshine Stars.
Sunshine Stars’ Head Coach, Bobola Akonfolarin, praised his team’s attacking display but acknowledged defensive shortcomings, promising improvements ahead of their Match Day 21 clash with Bayelsa United.
The victory lifts Sunshine Stars to 24 points in the NPFL standings.
